The Premier of New South Wales, Australia, Mike Baird MP, visited Yad Vashem on 5 April as part of a delegation of leading NSW businesspeople to Israel arranged by the Australian Israel Chamber of Commerce. Included in the delegation with Mr. Baird was his wife Kerryn and Devanand “Dave” Sharma, Ambassador of Australia to Israel.

Following an in-depth tour of the Holocaust History Museum, the Premier and Ambassador Sharma laid wreaths in memory of the Holocaust victims in the Hall of Remembrance.

At the conclusion of the visit, Premier Baird wrote a poignant message in the Yad Vashem Guest Book:

“On behalf of the people of NSW (New South Wales) we say how sorry we are. The whole humanity must learn thought your unimaginable pain. We know what overcomes the darkness, but we must always remember that for evil to triumph, good men and women must do nothing. Never again can we do nothing.”

Ambassador Sharma wrote: “With deepest appreciation for the important task you perform in honoring loss, preserving memory and sanctifying life.
