Australian Friends of Yad Vashem
Australian Friends of Yad Vashem (AFYV) was established in March 2005 to coincide with the opening of the new Holocaust History Museum at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem.
Since then, thousands of Australians have visited the new museum, including several prominent families who have become major benefactors.
The 1st wall of the Australian section of the Memorial Cave at Yad Vashem has now been filled with plaques and orders for the 2nd wall has begun but space is limited. As part of your generous contribution may I suggest that you dedicate a plaque to commemorate any members of your family who were survivors of victims of the Holocaust, in order to serve as an everlasting memory and personal commemoration for you and your family.
Joey Borensztajn was named the new President of AFYV in March 2014, taking over from the founding President Johnny Baker. Borensztajn is a trustee of the Jewish Holocaust Centre Foundation and holds a number of communal positions. AFYV has appointed Vicki Factor as Honorary Secretary and Michelle Deutsch as Honorary Treasurer.
Members of the community are invited to contact AFYV regarding forthcoming visits, educational programs or the Central Database of Shoah Victims’ Names.
Survivors are also welcome and encouraged to submit a Survivor Form or fill in a testimony in your preferred language from Pages of Testimony.
The Shoah Victims’ Names Recovery Project website can be found here or you can download the questionaire pdf here.
